Care Guide
Each piece is designed to accompany you in your everyday life and stand the test of time. At Helena Rohner we create jewellery crafted with carefully selected materials and thoughtful processes.
Like any special piece, its beauty evolves with wear. With the right care, it will not only retain its original shine but also gain character, becoming part of your story.
How to care for your jewellery
Daily wear is part of the essence of our pieces, but certain habits will help preserve their finish and extend their lifespan:
- Avoid direct contact with water, perfumes, creams, makeup, and chemical products, as they may alter colour and shine.
- Remove your jewellery before showering, swimming, or exercising. Water, chlorine, and sweat can accelerate wear, especially on plated pieces.
- Do not wear your jewellery while sleeping to prevent friction, impact, or deformation.
- Always apply cosmetic products before putting on your jewellery, allowing them to fully absorb.
- Avoid contact with hard or abrasive surfaces that may scratch your pieces.
Small daily gestures make a meaningful difference in preserving each piece.
How to store your jewellery
The way you store your jewellery is key to maintaining it over time:
- Store each piece separately to avoid scratches, tangling, or friction between metals.
- Use the original box or soft fabric pouches to protect them when not in use.
- Keep your jewellery in a cool, dry place, away from humidity and direct sunlight.
- Avoid storing pieces in spaces such as bathrooms, where humidity and temperature changes can accelerate deterioration.
Proper storage helps preserve both the finish and structure of each piece.
How to clean your jewellery
Regular and gentle cleaning helps maintain the natural shine of your pieces:
- After each wear, gently wipe your jewellery with a soft, dry cloth to remove oils or residue.
- For a deeper clean, use lukewarm water with mild soap. Rinse thoroughly and dry carefully with a soft cloth.
- Avoid abrasive products, harsh chemicals, or aggressive cleaning methods that may damage the finish.
The key is to clean gently and avoid excessive friction.
Materials and specific care
Gold-plated jewellery
Our gold plated pieces consist of brass metal with an extra of two microns of 18ct gold. As gold-plated pieces, these have a delicate finish that may naturally wear over time with use.
To prolong their lifespan, avoid contact with water, sweat, and chemicals, and always handle them gently without excessive rubbing during cleaning.
Sterling silver
Silver may naturally tarnish over time due to exposure to air, humidity, or certain chemicals.
To maintain its shine, clean it with a specific silver cloth and store it in a dry environment. Frequent wear can also help slow down oxidation.
Solid gold
Gold is a durable material that resists the passage of time. However, it may develop small marks or scratches with wear.
We recommend occasional cleaning with a soft cloth or with lukewarm water and mild soap to maintain its shine.
Natural stones and pearls
Stones and pearls are natural delicate, porous unique materials that require special care.
Avoid contact with perfumes, cosmetics, and chemicals, and clean them only with a soft cloth. Their longevity depends greatly on careful handling. High temperatures or chlorine to be avoided.
Glass and 3D print PLA
These are strong materials, with a sealed surface. In case it may get dirty, a soft wash with soap will be enough to clean it.
